OIS Announces Plans To Launch The OIS EyeScan At AAO 2009

OIS (Ophthalmic Imaging Systems)

New Multi-Modality, Portable Imaging Device To Help Physicians Deliver Better Care

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – October 1, 2009 -- OIS (Ophthalmic Imaging Systems) today announced plans to launch the OIS EyeScan(TM) at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The OIS EyeScan is a multi-modality, portable imaging device that will revolutionize the way that ophthalmologists screen and capture diagnostic images by delivering a new level of flexibility, efficiency, and image quality to the market. At launch, the OIS EyeScan will have six imaging modules including:

  • Mydriatic Color
  • Fluorescein Angiography
  • Stereo Optic Nerve Head
  • Red Reflex
  • Corneal Fluorescence
  • Tear Film Analyzer
  • Imaging modules to be released post launch.

"We are excited about the possibilities that the OIS EyeScan will open up to eye care professionals around the world." Commented Gil Allon, CEO of OIS "With the OIS EyeScan, we are aiming to help physicians obtain high-quality diagnostic images from every one of their patients by eliminating the financial and physical constraints posed by large, single location and single modality devices."

The OIS EyeScan is a portable diagnostic imaging device capable of being used from its own custom chin rest and base, a slit lamp adapter, or as a hand-held unit. This flexibility will enable physicians to capture images on patients who previously could not physically be imaged on traditional cameras - as well as minimize the footprint within the practice.

Each of the OIS EyeScan imaging modules capture 5.3 megapixel images and use a proprietary LED illumination system. This highly advanced digital architecture will deliver consistent results with even novice photographers.

The OIS EyeScan is patent protected, uses the market leading OIS WinStation(TM) capture software, and is fully integrated with the OIS Symphony(TM) Image Management System. "Prior to the OIS EyeScan, this level of image management integration, and software refinement had never been available in a portable device before." commented Brad Yates, Director of Product Management at OIS, "With the OIS EyeScan, practices will no longer be forced to decide between a space-efficient portable device, and a feature rich device - they can now have both."
