Marshfield Hills, MA – The long awaited preloaded
Capsular Tension Ring from Morcher identified as the
EYEJET CTR has been approved for marketing in the United States by the FDA. Simple and easy to operate, it is a single use system for implanting the Type 14 capsular tension rings (CTR).
The EYEJET CTR consists of a disposable injector which is preloaded with one of the three Type 14 CTRs (14, 14A or 14C). Each preloaded injector is packaged in a peel-open, contoured container in which it has been sterilized and is ready for use. Available in either a left or right version so the surgeon can select the desired implantation direction. The left model is for implantation in a counter-clockwise direction, while the right is for a clockwise insertion direction.
The units come with one of the CTRs already affixed to the hook of the injector with a clamp on the injector to keep it from moving until the package is opened for use. Pushing the clamp backwards “loads” the CTR into the injector at which time the clamp is removed and the ring is in position for insertion into the capsular bag. OR personnel and surgeons will find it simple and easy to operate.
The advantages of a capsular tension ring have been well documented since Morcher first introduced them over 15 years ago. With this new system, surgeons will find it even more advantageous to have their choice of EYEJET CTRs at hand for those cataract procedures involving zonular dehiscence, pseudoexfoliation or other capsular bag anomalies.
The new EYEJET CTR preloaded capsular tension rings are now available from FCI Ophthalmics, Inc., the exclusive importer and distributor for the United States. FCI Ophthalmics can be reached by calling 1-800-932-4202, via email at [email protected] or by FAX at 1-781-826-9062.
