In a recently published article in the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (
Volume 34, Issue 1, January 2008, Pages 28-31), researchers in Spain found that despite twice the standard postoperative dexamethasone treatment (8 drops daily vs. q.i.d.), stage 3 DLK seemed to occur more frequently with IntraLase flap creation vs. the using the Moria M2 microkeratome. The study included 2000 eyes, 1000 in each group. 4 patients in the Intralase group developed stage 3 DLK. Stage 2 DLK developed in 1 patient in each group.
