Advanced Medical Optics announced the launch of its WhiteStar Signature™ phacoemulsification system. The new system combines AMO's WhiteStar system with its Fusion™ dual pump fluidic system to improve chamber stability and reduce post-occlusion surge. The user interface has also been reworked to include a touch screen and help features. According to company representatives, this system provides the unsurpased chamber stability and significantly reduces post-occlusion surge. The dual pump responsiveness of the Fusion system has the performance of a venturi pump and the control of a peristaltic flow-based pump to provide a stable capsule environment.
