 Alcon Launches CyPass Micro-Stent

Earlier this month, Alcon launched its CyPass® Micro-Stent in the U.S. at the 2016 meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

The CyPass Micro-Stent was approved by the U.S. FDA in July for use in conjunction with cataract surgery to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult patients with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The device is reportedly implanted during cataract surgery into the supraciliary space, and is designed to lower IOP by enhancing aqueous outflow through one of the natural drainage pathways of the eye with minimal tissue disruption, allowing the excess fluid in the eye to drain.
