Ophthalmic 3D surgical guidance and visualization company TrueVision 3D was recently awarded a patent by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for its computer-guided surgery methods.
The patent is reportedly the seventh for the company in less than four years, and provides a novel visualization platform with computer-guided surgery for all manner of ocular surgery including capsulorhexis for cataract surgery and corneal inlay implantation for presbyopia correction. The visualization platform can reportedly be used with existing optical systems, such as surgical stereomicroscopes, femtosecond lasers, or LASIK machines.
