YAG Lasers for Trabeculotomy and Capsulotomy

YAG lasers are often used for Capsulotomy and Trabeculectomy procedures. Yag Laser Capsulotomy is a procedure intended to correct posterior capsule opacity whereas Trabeculectomy is a procedure used in Glaucoma patients to relieve intraocular pressure via YAG laser. A Capsulotomy is necessary when the capsule becomes cloudy because of healing scar tissue. This is a fairly common condition post-operatively. The Yag Laser creates a tiny hole in the posterior membrane to allow the passage of light through and to restore clear and unobstructed vision. A Trabeculectomy or SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculectomy) is partial removal of the trabecular meshwork and surrounding areas to drain excess fluid and relieve pressure.

Many YAG lasers on the market now boast the dual features that enable an Ophthalmologist to perform both Capsulotomy and Trabeculectomy procedure via one laser. This allows an Ophthalmology practice to utilize available space and decrease the amount of large equipment needed. Many of these YAG lasers offer upgradable features that are available to add on at a later date, insuring your practice stays up to date.

Quantel Medical’s proprietary technology is based on an engineering breakthrough, which enables infrared and visible green nanosecond pulses to be produced by single dual-mode cavity: 532nm and 1064nm.
This last technology reduces complexity and results in a more elegant, advanced combination laser platform.

Optimis Fusion includes convergent optical path allowing an optimized visualization of both anterior and posterior segment, a better visual comfort, combined with a blue-free LED illumination.

A Glaucoma, Cataract and Retina Laser in One :
Optimis Fusion easily combines with Quantel Medical Vitra or Vitra Multispotgreen photocoagulators.

  • Advanced technology: dual-mode laser cavity, 532nm and 1064nm
  • Premium Optics
  • Integrated platform with a compact footprint
  • A Glaucoma, Cataract and Retina Laser platform combined with Vitra or Vitra Multispot
Fully Integrated: It is the only system that fully integrates photocoagulation with photodisruption via a Zeiss laser slit lamp.
  • System parameters adjustable via anti-reflective touch screen control - Also includes PowerPress control for easy power adjustments.
  • Both systems can be used independently at any given time for maximum versatility at your practice.
Premium Photodisruption (YAG III) Features:
  • High pulse repetition frequency of 2.5Hz enables fast procedures.
  • Super-Gaussian beam profile allows typical clinical procedures to be performed with less energy - Optical breakdown can be achieved with as little as 2.5mJ (in air).
  • 4-point aiming beam - allows for precise focusing and indicates any astigmatic distortion, allowing for energy adjustments before firing the laser.
  • Variable focus shift: 0, +150µm, -150µm.
  • Ergonomic design guarantees unobstructed visual contact with the patient and free access to the eye.
Premium Photocoagulation (532s) Features:
  • True color active physician safety filters coupled with therapy laser - for a brilliant slit lamp image.
  • Thermoelectric cooling with enhanced stability management - for reliable and reproducible therapy results without performance fluctuations.
  • ParFocus zoom system - delivering a homogeneous, sharply defined and reproducible laser spot to the retina without heat-related side effects on the patients cornea.
  • Programmable Parameter Presets.
  • Micro-Manipulator, integrated into the slit lamp joystick allows for fast and precise beam positioning and navigation
  • Laser and illumination are coaxially synchronized for increased ergonomics
