Visual Fields Reference Work From Richmond Products

Richmond Products Inc.

Albuquerque, NM – 23 May 2011. Richmond Products Inc. announces the availability of a major reference publication that documents analyses of visual field disorders identifying the unique aspects of disease or other causes. The book is exceptionally detailed, presenting 158 cases of visual abnormalities. 61 cases relate to retinal and choroidal disorders, 27 to optic nerve disorders, 32 to glaucoma and 26 deal with problems in the visual pathway proximal to the globe. Other unusual cases detail field disturbances due to media opacities and artifacts. Eight of the cases arise from multiple disease at the root.

The cases are clearly and uniformly presented using the Subjective, Objective, Assessment Plan (SOAP) format and concentrate on common and uncommon visual defects encountered in practice. Each case presentation documents history corroborating the cause and the corresponding visual defect in the style of a problem-oriented clinical record. Virtually every method of manual and automated field-testing is employed in case diagnosis, measurement and treatment.

The 500-page book is titled Visual Fields – Clinical Case Presentations and is available in both printed form and on CD with liberal use of color retinal (fundus) images and visual field diagrams. The authors are John C. Townsend OD, Gerald J. Selvin OD, John R. Griffin OD, Mopt, M.S.Ed and George W. Cromer OD.

Lloyd G. Powell, President of Richmond Products states: “A great deal of time, effort and experience has been devoted to the subject of visual fields by these authors. By making the book available in both electronic and printed form fulfils a gap in available reference works for eye care professionals”.

Adding to this, Dr. John R. Griffin said: "I am well pleased that the Visual Fields book will be available again and that Richmond Products has taken this initiative. All the clinical case presentations in the book are still very much valid today and are of considerable reference value to ophthalmologists, optometrists, numerous health care professionals and students of these professions."

Printed and CD versions of the book can be ordered by emailing [email protected].
