Beaver-Visitec Launches Extend 180™ Long-term Dissolvable Implants
Waltham, MA – May 30, 2017: Beaver-Visitec International (BVI), a leading global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of specialized surgical devices for the ophthalmic marketplace, has announced the US launch of Extend 180 Absorbable Synthetic Implants, a new long-term punctal implant for patients experiencing dry eye symptoms.
Extend 180 is designed to provide 6 full months of effective dry eye relief*. These long-term dissolvable implants are well-suited for post-ocular surgery, seasonal dry eye, contact lens intolerance and/or dry eye associated with digital eye strain.
“Because the implant has no foreign body sensation and effectively treats dry eye for up to 6 months, it is ideal for any ocular surgery which may induce transient dry eye,” said Dr. Eric Donnenfeld, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, New York University.
Extend 180 implants are made of dissolvable polydioxanone material, and are available in 0.3mm, 0.4 mm and 0.5mm sizes, packaged in a single pair or (10) pair box. BVI is now accepting orders for June shipment
The Extend 180 compliments other punctal occlusion product offerings from BVI which can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye. These include Parasol ® punctal occluders, Collagen and Extend ® implants , and MicroFlow ™ occluders.
