New Optokinetic Banner

Richmond Products Inc

Some Neuro-ophthalmologists require an optokinetic (OKN) banner large enough to fit a patient's visual field. Richmond Products now offers an OKN banner 27 inches (68 cm) in width and 10 inches (25 cm) in height, the same as the height of a full-size OKN Drum.

OKN banners, flags and drums are used to produce involuntary optokinetic nystagmus physiologic ‘’jerk’ in a patient’s eyes. This occurs when the patient attempts to fixate on moving stripes within the field of vision. The slow phase of nystagmus is in the direction of the movement of the banner, flag or drum while the fast phase is in the opposite direction. The red and white stripes on the OKN side of the banner are 1.5 inches (3.7 cm) wide. Dowels are sewn in to each end to provide vertical stability and promote ease of use.

Richmond also supplies an OKN flag measuring 27 x 3 inches (68 x 7.4 cm) and full size and mini OKN drums.
