Topcon Medical Systems, Inc
Oakland, New Jersey – October 8, 2010 – Topcon is launching two new optical coherence tomography
(OCT) systems for the International market during the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology (AAO) in Chicago. The 3D OCT‐2000 FA and the 3D OCT‐2000 FA+ will be showcased at the
Topcon booth #3934 during the AAO Meeting at McCormick Place, Chicago (October 16‐19).
The two systems offer a combination of OCT, a non‐mydriatic color retinal camera, RedFree (digital)
imaging, and fluorescein angiography (FA). The FA+ has the additional capability of fundus
autofluorescence (FAF) imaging. With scanning speeds of up to 50,000 A‐Scans per second, the 3D OCT‐
2000 FA Series offers fast high‐resolution imaging. The devices feature analysis functions for Drusen and
nerve fiber, ganglion cell, and inner plexform layer detection. Usability is enhanced in these systems with
auto‐focus and auto‐shoot capabilities in fundus photography, and auto‐focus, auto‐Z and Z‐lock, and auto‐
polarization in OCT photography. The systems are fully integratable with Topcon’s IMAGEnet® R4 Digital
Imaging System, which is also being showcased at the AAO.
“The introduction of the 3D OCT‐2000 FA and FA+ reflects a significant step forward in ophthalmic care,”
says Nobu Ryu, President of Topcon Medical Systems, “By enhancing our 3D OCT series with additional
features and functions for posterior segment imaging, clinicians are able to perform better analyses of the
various layers of the retina, and are subsequently able to manage patients’ conditions more accurately.”
The 3D OCT‐2000 FA and 3D OCT‐2000 FA+ are not available for sale in the United States.
