Alaa M. El Danasoury, MD to serve a two-year term as ISRS president
SAN FRANCISCO – Alaa M. El Danasoury, MD, has been appointed to serve a two-year term as the president of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), a partner of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). As the president, Dr. Danasoury will also serve as the chair of the ISRS Executive Committee.
“I am honored and excited to lead the International Society of Refractive Surgery in 2010 and 2011,” said Dr. El Danasoury. “ISRS has long been at the forefront of refractive innovation and is comprised of leaders of refractive surgery worldwide. In the coming years we will reinforce and build on our reputation as the leading global society for refractive surgery. In addition, we will continue to strengthen our connection with cataract, corneal and intraocular lens-related research, education and leadership.”
Dr. El Danasoury is the medical director and chief of the cornea and refractive surgery units at the Magrabi Eye and Ear Hospitals in Saudi Arabia. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, as well as chair of the Scientific Committee of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO).
